Diocesan Choirs’ Festival 2022

This year’s Diocesan Choirs’ Festival will take place on Saturday June 18, 2022 at 4.30pm as part of the Festival of Music Within the Liturgy.

We invite choirs and individual singers from across the Diocese to come and sing Choral Evensong with the Cathedral Choir. The combined forces will sing the responses (plainsong), psalm, hymns, and the canticles:

Stanford Magnificat and Nun Dimittis in B flat.
Scores are available online in the public domain here.

We invite individual choirs from different parishes to propose anthems or other works to sing on their own at other parts of the service.

The rehearsal will be at 2pm in the Cathedral on June 18, with the service following at 4.30pm.

Covid Safety
The Cathedral still asks all in attendance to mask at all times, and choral singers stand physically distanced.
