Servers

Mandate

The role of the Servers is to assist at major services throughout the year, including Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and special services on Sundays (and sometimes midweek, most often in the evening).

Volunteer Activities

Servers' duties include setting up before the service, acting as crucifer (carrying the processional cross), torch bearers (carrying the candles in procession), acolytes (assisting with the preparation of the bread and wine for communion) and MC (organizing other servers and assigning specific duties before the service), and cleaning up after the service.

Time Requirement

Attendance at major services. Servers need to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the start of the service and remain a few minutes afterwards to complete their duties.

Special Skills Required

An understanding of the Anglican liturgy, the ability to work with other servers and the clergy officiating at the service, and reliable and faithful attendance are important.
