To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the end of the Great War.

Inspired by the project undertaken at St.Mary’s church in Walsham-le-Willows this venture is designed to include every parishioner at the church as well as the Sunday school children as a means of raising the profile of the Cathedral in the downtown core as we remember all those who lost their lives in the Great War.
The aim is to knit or crochet thousands of poppies that will be displayed on the outside of the Cathedral during the weeks preceding Remembrance Day in 2018.

Please note:

The Poppy Knitting Group is meeting May 10 and 24 at 4pm. Then the group will break for summer. Please don’t stop crafting those poppies, and if anyone needs supplies of yarn, we can help. Please contact Lesley Pugh at or 403 234 9948 for further details.

Watch this space for more updates during the summer.

If you would like to join in this worthwhile project please contact the Cathedral office at for information and details about the patterns and yarn that are being used.

A huge thank you to everyone for your continued poppy production. I know the summer will be slower but please keep knitting and crocheting!
