Baptisms are an important and joyous event in the life of the Church.

The Book of Alternative Services says that baptism is "the sign of new life in Christ. Baptism unites Christ with his people. That union is both individual and corporate. Christians are, it is true, baptized one by one, but to be a Christian is to be part of new creation which rises from the dark waters of Christ's death into the dawn of his risen life. Christians are not just baptized individuals; they are a new humanity."

The sacrament is available to all who wish it. We encourage adults desiring baptism as well as parents of children being baptized to become members of the Cathedral community. Preparation to receive the sacrament will involve a few discussions about the Christian faith, as well as the responsibilities of those being baptized.
